Alphabet Soup: Making Conservation Conventional

Join Sand County Foundation and the Illinois Sustainable Ag Partnership for an interactive and strategy-building discussion based on Sand County Foundation’s recent report, “Making Conservation Conventional: Perspectives from a behavioral design process with farmers in the midwestern United States.

Taking an interactive design approach to the foundational issues of farmer adoption of conservation practices, Sand County Foundation and GRID Impact worked for over a year with farmers and conservation professionals to dig into the farmer perspective and cognitive biases at play in adoption of new conservation practices. The recently published report is the result of that work, combining existing research and farmer interviews to create the background you need for actionable strategies in working with farmers.

In ISAP’s first convening of Alphabet Soup in 2022, you will have the opportunity to participate in an interactive, task-oriented workshop to deepen your understanding of the issues at play, find new strategies to incorporate into your work, and hopefully come up with new approaches for your work with farmers. We highly recommend that attendees read the report before attending the workshop in order to allow for more in-depth discussion.
