Efficient Cover Crop Seed Application Using Drones
Mark Kingland resides in Winnebago County, Iowa with his wife on a 120-year family farm, where his father was once farming with horses and picking corn by hand, and now sees practices marked by high-tech monitors and drones. Mark started planting cover crops in 2023 on 190 acres of his farmland and purchased a drone to do the planting. He also uses the drone to apply fungicide for its accuracy and ability to map and record data. In 2024 he planted 1000 acres of cover crops as well as applied fungicide on 1700 acres between his own acres and custom work.
Join Mark in this September shared learning call where he will talk about the versatility of drones in agriculture and how he uses them for cover crop seed application. Mark will be walking through the entire process of handling cover crop seed, filling, flying and landing the drone – focusing on the key to acre coverage, an efficient cycle time, getting the drone back in the air as soon as you can.
