Power of Perennials Workshop – Decatur, IL

City of Decatur, American Farmland Trust (AFT), Argonne National Laboratory are hosting a technical assistance workshop for perennial bioenergy crops. This workshop will provide detailed agronomic expertise to farmers & landowners on the steps to adopt a perennial bioenergy crop like switchgrass and native prairie mixes. AFT will share information on environmental and economic benefits to perennial bioenergy cropping systems on marginal lands as well as potential end use of harvested biomass. Examples of local market opportunities for these crops will be provided as well. Participants will leave with take home resources that can support growing a perennial bioenergy crop and biomass markets in Illinois.
