University of Illinois Extension Baebler Educational Farm Cover Crop Field Day

Join the University of Illinois Extension for a Baebler Educational Farm Cover Crop Field Day on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. The program will start at 9 a.m., rain or shine.

The Baebler Educational Farm is located south of Waterloo, IL at 4022 JJ Rd. Waterloo, IL 62298.

Cover crops have many benefits to the soil, environment, and overall crop production and management. Extension Educator, Nathan Johanning, will discuss ways to incorporate cover crops in your rotation and tour demonstration plots. We will hear from CoverCress who is a St. Louis based company, breeding pennycress into a winter annual oilseed crop and cover crop. They have research plots at the farm and will talk about the future opportunities for this crop which also provides winter cover.

This field day will be free and open to anyone interested in learning more about cover crops. Registration is required by Monday, March 22 and attendance is limited. To register visit https://go.illinois.edu/covercrop or call the Monroe County Extension Office at 618-939-3434. We will ask all participants to wear masks and practice social distancing due to COVID-19. We will provide some refreshments and is a great opportunity to talk to fellow growers to learn more from their challenges and successes incorporating cover crops into their cropping systems. We hope to see you there!
