Soil Health Week: Soil Health & Farm Resiliency with Perennial Bioenergy Crops
American Farmland Trust (AFT) provides technical assistance to farmers and landowners to transition portions of subprime farmland to produce perennial bioenergy crops like switchgrass, miscanthus, and native prairie mix. Marlee Giacometti is a program associate at AFT and a member of the Perennial Bioenergy Crop Diversification project team in partnership with Argonne National Laboratory. In this presentation, Marlee will share information about the soil health and water quality benefits of these crops and how they can help boost farm resiliency. In addition to sharing environmental benefits, AFT will share details on harvest and end use of these crops for added economic opportunities on the farm.
