Project Wingspan’s Pollinator Habitat Management for Agricultural Lands Workshop

Attendees will learn about Midwestern pollinator species, their economic importance, and their habitat requirements. Speakers will discuss multiple benefits gained from integrating pollinator habitat within agricultural lands. These educational workshops will provide technical guidance on creating and managing different habitat installation types.

Topics covered:
Pollinator biology and ecology, habitat requirements, and the economic importance of pollinators in agriculture
The benefits realized through co-locating pollinator habitat installations, including reduced pests and pest pressure, increased productivity, and increased soil and water conservation, among others
Identify ways of increasing and enhancing pollinator diversity on agricultural lands
Technical guidance on creating diverse habitat, and best management practices and technical guidelines for short and long-term habitat management Information on local, state, and federal agencies/organizations that offer technical assistance and financial programs
A guided field tour of farm sites will follow the classroom portion of the workshop and allow participants to talk with farm managers who have integrated habitat into their management plans
