Oxbow Restoration Training
You are invited to an oxbow restoration training series developed by the creators of the Oxbow Restoration Toolkit. Oxbow restorations are a simple and effective edge-of-field conservation practice that can substantially improve fish and wildlife habitat, water quality, and floodwater storage capacity. However, the process to restore an oxbow can seem complicated and can be overwhelming for those new to oxbow restorations. Therefore, this training will provide attendees with the necessary information to feel comfortable identifying oxbow restoration opportunities and implementing an oxbow restoration from start to finish. After the training, attendees will (1) know how to implement each phase of an oxbow restoration, (2) form a network of conservation professionals to learn from, and (3) know how and when to tap into the various funding sources available for oxbow restorations. Please help us share this invite throughout your organization!
The virtual training on Tuesday October 5th will provide attendees with the basic knowledge needed to restore oxbows. The outdoor in-person training on Wednesday October 6th will build off of Tuesday’s training and provide a more in-depth and hands-on experience at oxbow sites in the field. We require RSVP by 4pm Monday August 30th. Please send your RSVP to Karen Wilke at kwilke@tnc.org
