Managing Saturated Buffers in a Flat Field: Impacts on Flow and Nitrate Load Treatment
In the webinar, “Managing Saturated Buffers in a Flat Field: Impacts on Flow and Nitrate Load Treatment,” Johnson will provide an overview of saturated buffer placement and functions which affect reducing nitrate-nitrogen loss in tile drainage when placed in suitable sites. He will also address additional needs when saturated buffers are located along flat or gradually sloping fields where they require additional stoplog management to reduce impacts to crops and may be less effective at removing nitrate. Drawing on the initial results from a study assessing the performance of saturated buffers at a flat site, Johnson will share the function and utility of management utilizing automated stoplogs.
