Illinois Cover Crop On-Farm Network Monthly Calls
For our November call, we will be joined by Etienne Herrick from the University of Michigan School for Environment and Sustainability. Etienne will discuss a citizen science approach that studied how and why cover crop growth varies from farm to farm. Etienne will share the findings of the 2023 survey, lessons learned, and next steps.
More about Etienne:
Etienne Herrick is a PhD candidate and USDA NIFA fellow at the University of Michigan School for Environment and Sustainability, where her research focuses on ways in which farmers can strategically manage crop diversity for improved agricultural sustainability, particularly through use of cover crops to support ecosystem services like nutrient cycling and climate resilience. She is passionate about collective learning, citizen science, and other participatory research approaches that engage the agricultural community in the creation and application of conservation knowledge.
