Illinois Cover Crop On-Farm Network Cover Crop Cocktails
This summer, ICCON is hosting a four-part series, Cover Crop Cocktails, to discuss mixes, rates, and cover crops for your particular goals. Join us for our kick off of this series where Morgan Jennings from Practical Farmers of Iowa, will cover the topic of planting cover crops after a small grain harvest during a mid-summer planting window. This timing could offer a wider range of species selection due to favorable weather conditions. She will also discuss using this method to address soil health goals among others
Morgan has always called Iowa home and earned her bachelor’s degree in animal science and agronomy from Iowa State University. She continued her education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she received her master’s degree specializing in ruminant nutrition with a focus on evaluating cattle management for systems with limited perennial pasture. Morgan is passionate about crop-livestock integration and is fond of her research involving spring corn residue grazing and its impacts on soil physical properties
