Habitat Conservation Connection: Connecting Agriculture and Conservation
The Habitat Conservation Connection program was created to not only give landowners insight on conservation efforts happening around them, but to show connection between wildlife habitat and in-field agriculture conservation. The day will feature many different aspects of conservation, such as state roadside habitat, in-field conservation, pollinator maintenance, and much more! Those who are presenting have been chosen to provide more depth to the subject matter and topics listed on the flyer. The intent is to have valuable conversations with landowners, business professionals, and supporting organizations which hopefully leads to the implementation of more conservation practices.
Topics:
- Pollinators explained & maintenance (could include a possible Farm Bill update on habitat conservation)
- Conservation on uncommon acreage
- Agriculture in-field conservation
- State roadside efforts for habitat
- Monarch habitat preservation
- Wildlife habitat in agriculture
This program will include a pollinator plot tour, featuring both well-established and recently planted. The importance of the pollinator plot tour is to show pollinator cooperators (and those who are interested in learning more) how their pollinator plots should look: ID plants/flowers, notice signs of growth, how to maintain, and recognize weed pressure.
This portion of the program will include a FREE lunch for those who RSVP.
Please RSVP to David Fulton: dfulton@precisionconservation.org
Participating partners include: Illinois Corn Growers, Illinois Monarch Project, Illinois Department of Transportation, Pheasants Forever, Precision Conservation Management, University of Illinois, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, DeWitt County Soil and Water Conservation District, Piatt County Soil and Water Conservation District, and Macon County Soil and Water Conservation District.
