Grow More with ISAP

The Illinois Sustainable Ag Partnership (ISAP) is excited to invite you to an interactive, 2-part training on sustainable agriculture and conservation outreach strategies that will help you better understand how decision-making and behavior-change science influence conservation practice adoption. This opportunity is being hosted with support from the Illinois Nutrient Research and Education Council (NREC) and training provided by The National Wildlife Federation (NWF).

The National Wildlife Federation’s agriculture team has spent the last nine years studying farmer decision making. They have gone beyond the traditional motivators, particularly economics, and looked at the specific motivations of middle adopters. NWF developed the Grow More Training to help ag and conservation professionals learn and implement outreach and messaging that more effectively engages the middle adopter group.

This hybrid Grow More training will be offered in 2 sessions, and attendance is required at both sessions in order to participate. On Wednesday, April 12 a virtual session will be hosted via zoom from 1:00 – 3:00pm CT, covering an introduction to behavior science and how to use that knowledge when developing your messaging.

The in-person sessions will take place the following week at Illinois Soybean Association’s office (1108 Trinity Lane Bloomington, IL 61704) and will be organized by discussion topic / attendee expertise. When registering, you will have the opportunity to choose which in-person session to attend based on your interest and experience.

Tuesday, April 18, 2023 | 10AM – 3:30PM | Soil Health and In-Field Practices

Wednesday, April 19, 2023 | 10AM – 3:30PM | Water Quality and Edge-of-Field Practices

This in-person session will build on the concepts introduced in the virtual session, allowing participants to apply them to their outreach. In these highly interactive sessions, participants will have the chance to share and learn about outreach experiences with others and develop a strategy for reaching new audiences. Participants of the training will also receive a copy of the Grow More Workbook as a resource to refer back to after the training is complete.

You can view the full agenda for the training here. Space is limited for this training opportunity, so we encourage you to register today! There is a registration fee of $40 to participate, and lunch will be included during the in-person sessions. Refunds will be issued if cancellation is received by April 7th.
