SUMMARY:Cover Crops and Weed Management: Reducing Herbicide Costs
DESCRIPTION:Join Precision Conservation Management (PCM) for our comprehensive 2025 webinar series\, featuring insights from leading agricultural experts. PCM Director Greg Goodwin and Operations Manager Clay Bess kick off the series in February\, introducing this innovative farmer-led program that combines data analysis with technical assistance. Throughout the year\, Dr. Laura Gentry of IL Corn and University of Illinois joins Professor Dr. Gary Schnitkey to explore critical topics in agricultural management. Drawing from PCM’s extensive database of real-world farming practices\, the series covers yield optimization\, cover crops\, nitrogen management\, tillage systems\, and conservation incentives. Each bi-monthly session offers practical strategies to improve your bottom line while promoting sustainable agriculture. From yields and profits to conservation incentives for 2025\, this series provides valuable insights for all farmers. Join us to learn how PCM’s data-driven approach can transform your farming operation\, combining profitability with conservation while accessing valuable cost-share opportunities.

SUMMARY:Conservation Voices: Mastering the Art of Talking Conservation to Farmers
DESCRIPTION:Talking to farmers about conservation is one of the most important skills conservation professionals say is needed in the field—and one they’re eager to develop. \nWith a master’s degree in agricultural education—and as a farmer himself—SWCS Board Member Keith Berns brings valuable insight to this challenge. As co-owner and sales and marketing manager of the thriving cover crop business Green Cover Seed\, Keith knows how to speak farmer. \nGreen Cover Seed seeks to educate first\, starting with their sales force and extending that education to farmers by offering countless resources across media platforms\, including guides\, articles\, and YouTube videos. \nIn this session\, Keith will share how to communicate with farmers in ways that build relationships and move them toward practice adoption. \nFree for SWCS members\, $15 for nonmembers.

SUMMARY:Harvests Under Pressure - Navigating the Impact of Rising Tariffs
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an important discussion on how rising tariffs are reshaping the agricultural landscape for farmers across the U.S. While tariffs and trade disputes may seem distant\, their effects are felt locally\, especially by Black and underserved farmers who are already facing historical and systemic challenges such as discrimination\, land loss\, and limited access to resources. Increased tariffs add new economic pressures that can jeopardize livelihoods. \nThis webinar will provide a clear and straightforward overview of the current state of tariffs\, without the political spin or technical jargon. You’ll discover how these changes might impact your farming operation and what steps you can take to manage risks and potentially seize new opportunities during these uncertain times. \nKey Takeaways include: \n\nUnderstanding how current tariff changes could affect farm exports\, supply costs\, and overall profitability.\nLearning strategies to adapt and respond to trade uncertainty.\nHearing insights delivered in plain language\, focusing on practical outcomes for farmers.
