SUMMARY:Grow More Training
DESCRIPTION:The Grow More Training was developed by the agriculture outreach team at the National Wildlife Fund to help conservation professionals bridge the gap between information and action. If you feel like the same people come to every field day\, or you’re struggling to reach producers who aren’t already engaged\, this training is designed for you.\nTraditional outreach often reaches innovators\, but many producers fall into the “middle adopter” group and are less comfortable changing long-standing practices. This hands-on workshop focuses on behavior-based outreach strategies that help you: \n\nAttract new audiences\nImprove event planning and messaging\nIncrease adoption of conservation practices\nEvaluate outreach effectiveness\nStrengthen engagement beyond the usual attendees\n\nThe training includes interactive activities\, communication strategies\, and practical tools you can immediately apply in your district programs.

SUMMARY:Soil-Con 2026
DESCRIPTION:The agricultural community is invited to attend Soil-Con 2026; a full-day educational event focused on soil health and practical conservation strategies. Attendance is FREE\, but registration is required. The event will take place on Tuesday\, March 17\, 2026\, at the Oakwood Event Center (849 E. Lake View Rd\, Syracuse\, Indiana). Doors open at 8:00am. \nSoil-Con will bring together three perspectives on soil health. Paul Jasa will show how no-till systems must be managed correctly in the field. Dr. Ray Weil will explain the soil biology and nutrient cycling that make those systems work. And Dr. Thomas Dykstra will connect both to long-term plant health and insect pressure. Together\, they show that soil health isn’t one practice\, it’s a system. \nTo RSVP call 574-267-7445 ext 3 or by going online to KosciuskoSWCD.org.

SUMMARY:Trash or Treasure? Maximize the Value of Your Residue
DESCRIPTION:Whether you no-till\, cover crop\, double crop\, or simply have higher yields today than a decade ago\, you’ve got residue in your field. Sometimes we call that residue “trash” because it can create challenges coming planting time. However\, we cannot discredit the nutritional value that residue contains to help feed next year’s crop and sustain a healthy soil\, and suddenly is that “trash” actually “treasure?” The hard part about treasure is that it usually is tough to get to\, as can be residue management of our cropping systems. In this Field Advisor webinar\, Dr. Connor Sible and Ava Isaacs will review exactly what residue is\, how much we’re likely to encounter year over year\, and summarize recent trial work on residue management conducted by the Crop Physiology Lab at the University of Illinois.

SUMMARY:Regen Ag: Nook and Cranny Style Farming
DESCRIPTION:Join Duchick Ranch for a guided presentation and discussion on how we adapt regenerative agriculture principles on our small-scale farm. Using slides and recent soil test results\, we’ll explore the science behind our practices—and how improved soil health translates into stronger yields and better-tasting food. Farming on limited acreage comes with unique challenges\, especially when it comes to finding right-sized\, cost-effective equipment that bridges the gap between hand labor and large-scale infrastructure—without breaking the bank. We’ll share how we navigate these constraints\, seek practical middle-ground solutions\, and focus on increasing profitability while stewarding our land. Our approach is about making the most of every acre—for our animals\, our crops\, our family\, and the environment we depend on.

Similar to the previous years\, the Southern Illinois Soil Health Symposium will be geared towards educating and motivating people to learn more about and take action around soil and water health and the practices that forward these causes. The Soil Health focus this year will be centered around Soil Health Basics for Markets and Home Gardening.  We will kick off the evening with program updates from Food Works and Illinois Stewardship Alliance. Our 1st speaker will be Amanda Weidhuner from SIU Soil Science on soil foundations\, covering science\, soil health and function. Then we will hear from Noah Scalero from BeetRoot Farm on practical techniques for growing vegetables and healthy soils. SUMMARY:Soil Health Measurements & Benchmarking
DESCRIPTION:Join Farmers for Soil Health for a two-part webinar series focused on soil health measurements and benchmarking from the Soil Health Institute (SHI). \nThe first session will highlight SHI’s recommended soil health measurements and discuss how they can support efficient and scalable soil health sampling efforts. \nIn the second session\, FSH will dive deeper into how these measurements are incorporated into SHI’s soil health benchmarking – an approach used to understand how healthy a soil is today and how it could become. \nThis webinar series is offered through Farmers for Soil Health (FSH)\, an initiative designed to increase cover crop adoption by providing technical assistance\, financial incentives\, and educational resources. Whether you are new to cover crops or looking to refine your approach\, these sessions will provide practical insights that can be applied in the field.
