Partner Spotlight: University of Illinois Extension

University of Illinois Extension is the flagship outreach effort of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. As part of the Land Grant system, the University of Illinois was established to provide educational opportunities and pioneer research while putting learning and discovery into practice. UI Extension is the university’s statewide network of educators, faculty experts, and staff dedicated to this mission. UI Extension staff provides practical translations of cutting-edge research to help people, businesses, and communities solve problems, develop skills, and build a better future.

Extension staff directly serves 27 units across the state of Illinois, and more than 1.5 million Illinois residents take part in Extension programs each year, including nearly 200,000 who participate in 4-H youth programs.

UI Extension has been an active member of the Illinois Sustainable Ag Partnership since 2019. Extension staff contribute their expertise to several of ISAP’s programs including coordination and development of the Advanced Soil Health Training and Risk Management Conference. Extension staff also serve on ISAP’s Science and Education committees.

UI Extension believes that the long-term sustainability of the environment and agricultural productivity will require stewardship and care. Extension brings these values into their contribution to ISAP’s work, strengthening the Partnership’s ability to achieve ISAP’s mission and goals.

“This partnership allows the University of Illinois Extension to leverage a larger network of educational resources in our efforts to support the economic, technical, and environmental issues that are so tightly connected within the Illinois agricultural sector.”
